We freely admit we are not a perfect church; we strive to be a body of believers committed to worshipping Jesus, our Savior, and loving each other!
We love Jesus and want to follow His example. Our focus is on serving our community. We invite the community to partner with us in meeting the needs of others.
We offer many educational opportunities for all ages to learn more about Jesus Christ. There are always a number of service opportunities available as we partner with the community or one of our missions.
Our hope is that your feel welcomed, loved and value here at Kenwood.
If you have any questions about our church, or if you would like to study the Bible with someone, we encourage you to contact us.
About Us
What we believe…
► Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God, who died for our sins and rose from the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:1-8 & John 3:16)
►The Bible is the inspired word of God and provides us an understanding of God and instruction for living as believers. (2 Timothy 3:16 & Psalm 119:105)
►Every person has worth as a creation of God but all have sinned and fall short of His glory. (Romans 3:23)
►Those accepting Jesus must repent of their sins, confess their faith and be baptized into Him. (Romans 10:9 & Acts 2:38)
►Forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust, repent and are baptized into Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. (John 3:16 & Act 2:36-39)
►The church is the body of Christ on earth and exists to seek and save the lost and educate the saved. (Ephesians 4:1-16)
►Jesus Christ will one day return to take His people. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

Our History
Our congregation had its humble beginnings in 1952. A small group of Christians began meeting in an Odd Fellows Hall on Inkster Road. In December 1953, the church purchased property on the corner of Middlebelt and St. Martins Roads (behind where Sears is currently located).
Our current church home was dedicated on October 25, 1970 and continues to serve our congregation and community.
God has continued to bless us with continual growth throughout the years. We now have about 250 people who call this their church family.
The church also purchased a little white church built in 1892 located at Middlebelt and 8 Mile Roads. The church building was then moved almost 1 mile to the property. The excited congregation held the 1st service in the building on January 2, 1955 in spite of the winter weather and no heat.
Due to the growing congregation and the area becoming commercialized, it became necessary for the church to look for a new building site. The Lord guided the church to the 5 acre parcel where the church is currently located. Her ground-breaking was held on November 2, 1969.

► Believe that Jesus is the Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9) ► Repent of your sins (Acts 3:19)► State your belief (Romans 10:9)
► Baptism by immersion (Acts 2:38)
How Do I Join?
We offer an invitation to receive Jesus as your Savior at the conclusion of every service. If you step forward to the front of the sanctuary at this time, the minister or one of the elders will receive you. It is encouraged that you meet with the minister prior to coming forward during the invitation time; however, if the spirit moves you to step forward we will be happy to discuss your decision. If you have not previously been immersed in baptism we will take your confession of faith and baptize you into Christ. If you have been immersed in baptism, we will ask you to confess your faith and desire to join the Kenwood family.
